You play as a Predator in this dual-thumb controlled game and must complete the mission led levels to unlock further levels and more weaponry. The action takes place in good looking environments, balanced graphically with the need to render the 3D elements. The character design and movement is quick and pretty fluid.
Once you’ve skipped through the early levels, designed to teach you how to play, the action really starts and your blood lust is satisfied by the inventive ways of killing your enemies. I particularly like slicing up the humans right down the middle with the spear (or razor whip). Although, it can get a little repetitive, the 31 levels will keep you busy for a good few days and I think you always need a game with lots of blood to dip into from time to time.
Fans of the original Predator movie and anyone into horror or scI-fi will know that one of the big movies of the summer was PREDATORS. And to help promote the film and move the franchise into the mobile gaming arena, Fox Digital and Chillingo partnered to produce a slick, playable and bloody great game to be proud of.
PREDATORS was originally priced at £1.79 and I was a little unsure whether to purchase it, as historically movie tie-in games don’t always live up to the hype and just become a glorified platform to push the trailer down our throats. But then in late August (post-release of the film), the game was slashed to only 59p; whether this was because sales weren’t great or that could be a marketing ploy ahead of the dvd release who knows, but the low price dramatically reduces the risk of being put-off, if the game is below average. So we immediately downloaded it and added it to the AppZilla review queue.
Our Twitter followers will know that we gave it a provisional score of 4.5 back in early September, and this was before the version 1.3 update last week, so what can you expect now? Well I’m still sticking to the same score as even though the game has been updated (see video above) with ‘Predators’ now to battle, extra weapon (razor whip), “lethal combos”, Game Center support (Add APPZILLA) and new scenery, which is a welcome update to keep things fresh. But I have noticed a little slow-down in some of the new later levels, which doesn’t affect the game overall – so I’ll do some more testing to find out if this is just an isolated error.
PREDATORS is only 59p, I would have paid another 59p just for the update, so go get it and start collecting skulls!
