Ghost Chicken was released a few weeks back in time for the Halloween season, so you could say this review is a little late, but I still feel there still could be a place on your device for this Universal, free casual game, which is all under 10mb so won’t break the storage limit.
Picture a unique spin on Pac Man, you control the neck of a dead chicken, that’s right a ghost chicken, who needs feeding and there happens to be lots of corn below the surface. By tracing a route with your finger through the cavern (underground maze), you feed with the versatile and endlessly long neck, all to be completed within the time limit. You must avoid bugs touching your neck as you will lose a life, so attempt to eat them and collect bonus items for a more successful clearance of each level.
The first three difficulty modes are almost too easy and you will have them completed within the hour, however, the ‘insane’ mode is proving slightly tricky and I haven’t yet mastered it.
The 2D graphics are simple and fairly retro looking, there are no thrills, and there doesn’t need to be as it’s all about the puzzle style game play against the clock. One minor point that did jump out of me, was the absence of a pause button during game play, seems a little odd not to have this functionality.
Ghost Chicken is a nice little time waster but once completed, you probably won’t revisit.
